Ken Robinson says schools kill creativity | Video on TED.com

Ken Robinson says schools kill creativity Video on TED.com

I thought this talk was truly amazing. It truly connected with me and related with my life. Going to school my whole life, I have recognized in the recent years now, that all the education system has done to me is hold me back. Society has formed this horrible system that limits us as human beings. Going into the college, I have found out that college is a system where people can boast on who KNOWS more... This should not be the goals of an education system. The goals should be on who can come up with the next original idea, the next thing that moves us forward as people. The problem is, is that people are too scared to take that step, to put yourself at the edge and possibly fall. Some people have put themselves out there for risk; some have failed and some of succeeded beyond our wildest dreams.

What defines right? What defines wrong? What defines who is smart and who is not? These are the things that have been holding us back for too long. When you tell somebody they are wrong, you are judging them. You are telling them that their idea it doesn't work or doesn't make sense. Who are we, as human to say what makes sense and what doesn't? Once you make that judgement on a child or even adult that has no one to support them, they choose to get back in the line with the rest of society.

I can only hope that one day everyone truly understands what Ken Robinson is trying to say here.
